Savvas Vlachos started his professional career with 2004. He is a graduate of Environmental Engineering from the Polytechnic of Crete and holds a postgraduate diploma in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of Cyprus. At the beginning of his career, he worked as an Environmental Engineer and was responsible for conducting environmental studies for development projects as well as for designing waste treatment facilities.
He joined 2009 as an Energy Expert in the Energy Office of Cypriot Citizens and participated in studies, audits and certifications on building energy efficiency, the application of renewable energy technologies and the development of action plans for sustainable development in local government. It has professional skills in energy control of buildings, road lighting, airports, industry and the agricultural sector. He is registered as a certified energy auditor and as a qualified expert. In addition, he has experience in the use of technical equipment such as infrared camera, power analyzer, gas analyzer, etc. He is also a certified trainer by the Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus with previous experience in training on various technical issues such as photovoltaic technology, energy efficiency buildings, feasibility studies, project management, environmental policies and certification of energy performance of buildings.
Since September of 2016, he is the Director of the Cyprus Citizens' Energy Bureau and is responsible for the operation and strategic development of the organization. He has participated in more than 35 projects funded by the EU. as a project manager and is currently coordinator of an international project 2,7 € million co-funded by the EEA and the Norwegian Funds for the employment of young people in the green professions. Since January of 2017, he is also the National Coordinator of the Pioneers in Practice program in Cyprus, funded by Climate - KIC and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).
