Charis Kordatos is a Forester/Environmental Scientist, who has graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2006 and holds an MSc in Environmental Biology from the same University. He joined the Cyprus Energy Agency in 2009 and has been specialized in topics related with the impacts of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in different types of landscape, green fiscal policies, and effective implementation of Nature-based Solutions (NbS). He has an extensive experience in the realization of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) regarding the installation of large-scale RES projects and is responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of the undertaken EIAs.
In 2015, he was appointed as one of the experts to work on the Green Public Procurement (GPP) Support Unit within the Agency, and he participated as a trainer in various GPP training activities for enhancing the capacity of the Local/Public Authorities. He is currently coordinating the local implementation of Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs) under the Covenant of Mayors initiative, and he supports the Local Authorities in the implementation of sustainable actions and projects towards climate adaptation. He also participates in many co-funded EU and national projects related to the sustainable use of RES, the environmental management, and the green policies, as an expert and project coordinator. Lastly, since 2021, he is the Head of the Climate Change and Environment Department of the Cyprus Energy Agency.
