The aim of the MICIE [Mediterranean Island Cleantech Innovation Ecosystem] project was to strengthen the contribution of Research and Innovation to the achievement of the climate and energy objectives of Cyprus and Malta, as defined in their National Energy and Climate Plans.
In its 18 months of operation, MICIE would unite the Research and Innovation ecosystems of the two islands, leverage the strengths of each island, and develop synergies to address the challenges they faced – acting as a catalyst in the development of innovative technologies and business models for the climate.

The project was coordinated by the Cyprus University of Technology, while the consortium was completed by the Deputy Ministry of Innovation & Digital Policy of Cyprus, the Cyprus Employers & Industrialists Federation, the Cyprus Energy Office, the Malta Energy & Water Authority, the Malta Chamber of Commerce, the Malta College of Arts, Science & Technology, and EIT Climate-KIC holding BV.
The project was co-funded by the European Commission, through the Horizon Europe programme. To find out more, contact us at +357 22667716.
