The Horizon Europe funded project Mediterranean Island Cleantech Innovation Ecosystem (MICIE) aims to strengthen the contribution of Research and Innovation (R&I) in achieving the climate and energy targets of Cyprus and Malta, as defined in their National Energy and Climate Plans.
To achieve this, MICIE will forge links across and within the R&I ecosystems of the two island-states; will leverage each island-state’s strengths; and will develop synergies to address challenges -ultimately catalysing the development of innovative climate technologies and business models.

The project is coordinated by the Cyprus University of Technology, while the consortium also comprises the Deputy Ministry of Innovation & Digital Policy in Cyprus, the Federation of Employers & Industrialists of Cyprus, the Cyprus Energy Agency, Malta’s Energy & Water Authority, Malta’s Chamber of Commerce, the Malta College of Arts, Science & Technology, and the EIT Climate-KIC holding BV.
