With the aim of raising public awareness about the use of blue energy on the island of Cyprus, the Cyprus Energy Office, in collaboration with the Marine, are organizing in the city of Larnaca, the 3rd consecutive know-how transferring lab of Interreg Med Blue Deal project, under the auspices of the Municipality of Larnaca.
The workshop will take place from June 14-17 at CMMI House and will combine online* and in-person meetings in English, adhering to all measures foreseen to deal with COVID-19 based on the protocols.
The workshop is aimed at organizations active in the Blue Energy sector, both in Cyprus and in the Mediterranean, as well as the general public with a particular interest in the workshop's topic.
Among the speakers at the workshop will be representatives of Ministries and Departments active in both the sea and energy, such as the Deputy Ministry of Shipping, the Energy Service, the Department of Environment, as well as the Department of Antiquities, who through their presentations will outline the policy framework surrounding Blue Energy in Cyprus.
The prospects for the development of Blue Energy at the national level and the opportunities that open up for the domestic Blue Economy will also be presented.
The workshop will close with an open discussion moderated by Mr. Zacharias Siokouros, CEO of the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute, with the aim of forging alliances to promote the Blue Economy in the wider Mediterranean region. It will feature distinguished guests from Israel, Egypt, Greece and the European Commission.
