Marina Kyriakou is an architect who owns a bachelors’ degree from the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Strasbourg in France (2013). In 2014, she completed her Master in Urban and Regional Planning, at the Universiteit van Amsterdam in the Netherlands. She is a member of the Scientific and Technical Chamber of Cyprus, both as an Architect and Urban Planner and she is a board member of the Urban Gorillas NGO. From 2015 to 2019, Marina was working in architectural offices in Cyprus, and was active in citizen initiatives in socio-cultural and environmental issues. In 2019, she participated in the EIT Climate-KIC programme Climathon, organised by the Cyprus Energy Agency, where she and her team G.R.O.W. won the first prize for the idea to create a Green Roof prototype in Nicosia. At the same time, she got employed by the Cyprus Energy Agency as an Architect and Urban Planner, participating and contributing actively to many European and local projects of the Climate Change and Environment Department. Marina has participated in various trainings and initiatives on active mobility, Nature-based Solutions, energy and transport poverty, and other matters related to the human-centered and sustainable development of cities.
