Maria Achilleos is a qualified Architectural Engineer (Dipl.Arch.Eng.) graduated from the University of Thessaly, Greece, in 2014. On 2015 she obtained her MSc in Architectural Engineering: Environmental Design with distinction from the University of Bath, UK. She started her career as an Architectural Assistant with specialization on the Near Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) and the upgrade of Energy Performance of residential buildings. She is a member of the Scientific and Technical Chamber of Cyprus, trained as qualified expert (for the energy certification of buildings) and she holds a “Gold Level Certificate” for NZEBs. She has also attended training courses and vocational training programs for Passive Houses, Energy Performance of Buildings, Bioclimatic Design, Buildings’ Energy Audits and the Preservation of tangible cultural heritage.
She is employed by the Cyprus Energy Agency since 2017 as an architectural engineer specialized in buildings’ energy performance & environmental design. She is responsible for projects related to the energy use in buildings, the energy upgrade of existing buildings and the use of renewable energy sources in buildings. She is involved in studies, activities and actions promoting sustainable buildings and spaces, preservation of the tangible cultural heritage to modern standards, energy efficient buildings, rational use of energy in buildings, and climate mitigation and adaptation. She participates in European co-funded projects as technical expert and she is familiar with several software and tools related to Architectural Design, Energy Management and Energy Efficiency.
