By adopting a holistic approach, the SUSHI [SUStainable HIstoric city districts] project succeeded in transforming the historic districts of 6 cities from 5 European Mediterranean countries -including Nicosia (Cyprus)- into sustainable and (climate) resilient inclusive communities. During the project, each city prepared its own Action Plan covering the entire innovation chain: (1) mobility and accessibility, (2) local economic development and tourism, (3) housing and buildings, (4) circular economy, (5) nature-based solutions, (6) communication and progress monitoring, (7) community participation/engagement, (8) business models and financing platforms, (9) urban planning approaches, (10) governance and partnerships.
The project was co-funded by EIT Climate-KIC. Press here to learn more.
