Welcome to the Step-WISE Virtual Knowledge Office (VKO)!

A few words about the Step-WISE project:

The Step-WISE is a tailored and dynamic Capacity Building Programme , co-financed by the European Union, with the aim of empowering the European Local and Regional Authorities to become autonomous early adopters of digitized and integrated Clean Energy Transition Plans.

The project started in December 2023 and will last until May 2026 (2,5 years in total). It includes four use cases (Bulgaria, Spain, Cyprus, and Mediterranean islands), and leverages a software toolkit , aimed at the analysis of the local territory, to evaluate different energy scenarios, prioritize interventions in time, and monitor progress towards targets.

Why the Step-WISE toolkit?

The Step-WISE toolkit makes the process of Clean Energy Transition Planning easier, quicker, and more accurate, allowing administrations at all levels to have a digital baseline model of their area/region for energy simulations. This, in turn, contributes to the development of a dynamic Clean Energy Transition Plan.

The Step-WISE project toolkit encompasses three main components:​

• The technical toolkit , which includes a set of digital tools that allow scenario modelling and simulation to streamline municipal processes for decarbonisation
• The educational material , providing e-learning resources to enhance the capacities of local and regional authorities in developing and monitoring their local decarbonization plans
• A matchmaking platform , offering expert-led training and support to local and regional authorities engaged in Clean Energy Transition Planning
