Four additional Communities signed a Public Funding Agreement, within the framework of the Grant Scheme for Strengthening the Resilience and Adaptation of Communities to Climate ChangeThese are the Communities of Katydata, Nikitari, Xylotympos and Palaichori (Morfou).

The Communities of Nikitari and Xylotympos submitted an application under the B' category of investments of the Plan, Investments to strengthen the Adaptation and Resilience of Communities to Climate Change. Specifically, the Nikitari Community aims to utilize the resources it will receive from the Plan to upgrade the Community Green Space in the Self-Housing Settlement, as well as the St. John the Baptist Park, with tree planting and the installation of urban equipment. Similarly, the Xylotympos Community will utilize the funding it will receive to develop five Community Green Spaces, with tree planting and the installation of urban equipment, and to expand the existing irrigation systems.

The applications of the Communities of Katydata and Paleochori (Morfou), on the other hand, were under the C' category of investments of the Plan, Investments in Sustainable Mobility infrastructureIn this context, the Katydata Community seeks to develop two paths along its Community Park, with tree planting and the installation of urban equipment, while the Paleochori (Morfou) Community looks forward to upgrading the Agrotyros-Appis nature study path.

For the signing of the Public Financing Agreements, the Community Leaders of Katydata and Nikitariou and their consultants attended the premises of the Cyprus Energy Office on December 2, 2025. Correspondingly, the Community Leaders of Xylotympos and Palaichori (Morfou) and their consultants attended the premises of the Cyprus Energy Office on December 5, 2025. The signing of the Public Financing Agreements also marks the start of the work of each Community for the implementation of their projects.

The Grant Scheme for Strengthening the Resilience and Adaptation of Communities to Climate Change is included in the National Recovery & Resilience Plan and is funded by the EU Recovery & Resilience Mechanism (Next Generation EU), with a total budget of €2.900.000. The implementing body of the Plan is the Cyprus Energy Office and the supporting body is the Union of Cyprus Communities.
