The aim of the PRISMI [Promoting RES Integration for Smart Mediterranean Islands] project was to support the transition of local and regional authorities of Mediterranean islands to an autonomous, cleaner, secure and low-emission energy system, in a cost-effective manner, in line with the requirements of the Energy Union and the EU2020 Strategy of the European Union. To achieve this, the project developed an integrated transnational approach for the assessment and exploitation of Renewable Energy Sources [RES]. This approach included the development and integration of a comprehensive toolkit for the assessment and mapping of RES and the elaboration of scenarios for their penetration into the electricity systems of the islands. It also included the drafting of a Sustainable Energy Action Plan [SEAP] for each island, with recommendations and strategies for the development and implementation of RES projects, and the creation of a network of stakeholders for the exchange of knowledge and best practices.

The project was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, through the Interreg-MED program. To find out more, contact us at +357 22667716.
