The Interreg MED project Blue Deal is organising the European school contest BLUE DEAL for the Future, and the Cyprus Energy Agency is inviting groups of students from the 1st and 2nd grades of both public and private High Schools and Technical Schools in Cyprus, to participate and submit their innovative ideas for promoting Blue Energy in one of the following categories:

  1. Design (eg construction, model design),
  2. Artistic expression (eg painting, sculpture),
  3. Videos: (eg documentary, interview).

Applications for participating in the contest will be accepted until mid-March. The deadline for teams to submit their projects is 30 April, XNUMX.

Within this framework and in order to inspire and support the participating students, the Cyprus Energy Agency -partner in the Blue Deal project- is providing voluntary short training sessions, during which, students will learn what Blue Energy is, which technologies exist for the exploitation of Blue Energy, and how Blue Energy can be harnessed in Cyprus.

The evaluation of the students’ submissions will be done per category; therefore, at national level there will be three winning teams (one per category). A jury will then evaluate the three winning teams and pick one to attend the awards ceremony in Italy next June, with all travel and accommodation expenses paid by the organisers. The selected team will be represented by two of its members and their teacher.

Teachers who would like to learn more about the competition, can contact the project coordinator in Cyprus, Mrs. Louisa Marie Shakou, at 22667846.
