The accession of Cyprus to the EIT Climate-KIC network, which is the main initiative of the European Union in combating the effects of Climate Change and promoting Sustainable Development, was celebrated by the Cyprus University of Technology, Chrysalis LEAP and the Cyprus Energy Agency. "Cyprus - Center for Sustainable Innovation and Entrepreneurship", on September 29, at the Hilton Hotel in Nicosia.

The event was held under the auspices of the President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Anastasiadis and greetings were addressed by Mr. Konstantinos Petridis, Deputy Minister to the President, Mr. Costas Kadis, Minister of Education and Culture and Mr. Andreas Anagiotou, P. . The main speaker of the event was Ms. Androula Vassiliou, former Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth of the European Union.

The EIT Climate-KIC is one of the 5 Knowledge and Innovation Communities of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and comprises well-known European universities, multinational companies, professional associations and local authorities.

The aim of the Cypriot Consortium, consisting of the Cyprus University of Technology, Chrysalis LEAP and the Cyprus Energy Agency, is to promote green innovation in Cyprus and the wider region through targeted actions in vocational education, technological development of green products and services and accelerating green start-ups

Coordinator of the Cypriot consortium is Assistant Professor Alexandros Charalambides of the Department of Environmental Science and Technology of TEPAK.
