The Cyprus Energy Agency is organizing a Blue Energy Fair in the city of Pafos , which is open to the general public and invites all age groups to join in. The event will take place on Sunday, May 15, from 11:00 to 14:00, in front of the castle at the old harbour. It is being organised under the auspices of Pafos Municipality , within the framework of the European project Blue Deal *, in which the Cyprus Energy Agency is a partner.

Through its many activities, the Blue Deal project has identified possible pilot locations across Cyprus that have blue energy potential and matched this potential to the technologies available for harnessing it. The Blue Energy Fair will showcase these results as well as promote awareness around this fledgling sector and the opportunities it offers.

Join us and find out:

  • What Blue Energy is
  • What technologies are available to harness Blue Energy and what they look like
  • What the sources and types of Blue Energy potential in Cyprus are, and which are the best technologies to exploit them
  • What environmental criteria should be taken into account when deploying Blue Technologies, in order to protect the marine ecosystem of Cyprus

The Fair will include a variety of interactive activities including a Virtual Reality demonstration of Blue Energy devices in Cyprus, demonstration of a prototype device that converts wave to kinetic energy, and an art corner for children, amongst others.

The Blue Energy Fair is the launchpad of the Blue Deal Transnational Alliance, which serves to promote cooperation among individuals and organisations in the Blue Energy sector of Cyprus and across the Mediterranean (technology companies, academia, researchers, environmental organisations, Local Authorities, etc.), for the implementation of Blue Energy projects.

Admission is free for everyone. We hope to see you there!

The event is supported by the Cyprus Union of Communities (associate partner of Blue Deal ) and GeoImaging Ltd. (partner of the Blue Deal project in Cyprus).

* The Blue Deal (Blue Energy Deployment Alliance) project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. The project partners in Cyprus are the Cyprus Energy Agency and GeoImaging Ltd.
