The Cypriot government is planning the creation of the first Energy Community on the island
The revitalization of the Tillyria area (Nicosia district), with the creation of the first Energy Community on the island, is planned by the Cypriot government, with our Office and the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry taking on a coordinating role. The first milestone in this effort was reached on 14 April 2025, when, following an on-site meeting held by our Office in the area with the aim of informing households and businesses, collecting opinions and recording needs, it presented the model of the first Energy Community in Cyprus.
The presentation took place at the Kato Pyrgos Community Council, in the presence of the Chairmen of the Community Councils of the Complex, the President of the Cyprus Communities Association, representatives of the Energy Service and the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority, households and businesses in the area. An open discussion/dialogue followed in order to resolve questions and receive suggestions. The great interest shown by those present demonstrates the willingness and need to create an Energy Community on the island, and most importantly, the understanding of the benefits of such a large and demanding undertaking.
