Τhe youth competition for climate innovation, the Young Climathon Cyprus 2021 is just around the corner, and we can’t mask our excitement! If you are 12-18 years old, join the competition and be part of the change by providing solutions for the reduction of carbon emissions in the Mediterranean Sea and the Cyprus’ ports.
The Young Climathon competition is brought to you for the 2η consecutive year in Cyprus, by the Cyprus Energy Agency and the Cyprus University of Technology, within the framework of the Young Innovators programme. This year’s competition will be held on Saturday, December 11, 9:00-14:30 at the University of Nicosia, along with the School Education Conference eTwinning on «Climate Change and Misinformation» which is organised by the Foundation for the Management of European Lifelong Learning Programmes (FFMELLP).
During the competition, you will be asked to work in teams of 4-6 persons* to provide innovative and sustainable solutions for the reduction of carbon emissions in the Mediterranean Sea and the Cyprus’ ports. To do so, you will be using the Young Innovators toolbox, and the information provided to you via short presentations at the beginning of the competition, by distinguished guests (entrepreneurs and experts in the field of study). You will also be able to navigate on the internet for more information that will help you refine your final idea/solution.
Each team will have 2 hours to come up with an idea and construct its implementation plan. Then you will be asked to pitch your idea in front of a Juries Board who will evaluate your ideas and select the 2 winners. Other than the juries, will be present in the room, your competitors, and participants of the School Education Conference.
WHAT DO I WIN?
Apart from the monetary and other prizes you could win by participating in the competition, you will receive a Certificate of Participation which recognises you as the XNUMXnd generation of Young Innovators within the framework of the programme in Cyprus! You also gain meaningful and valuable knowledge on climate change and its challenges, by people who face/study them, and you enhance your system thinking and creativity in problem solving.
HOW DO I REGISTER?
Registrations will be open until December 5, via the online application form you may find here. *It is noted that those interested in participating in the competition, but haven’t formed a team yet, will be able to do so on the day of the competition.
