Τhe youth competition for climate innovation, Young Climathon Cyprus 2022, is soon to come! If you are 12-18 years old, join the competition and become part of the change by providing solutions aimed at reducing the environmental impact of the Fashion and Textile Industry, adopting the circular model of economy.

The Young Climathon competition is brought to Cyprus for the 3ηconsecutive year by the Cyprus Energy Agency and the Cyprus University of Technology, within the framework of the EIT Climate-KIC co-funded programme, Young Innovators. The competition will be held on Saturday, December 17, from 9:00 to 13:00, at the University of Nicosia.

STRUCTURE

During the competition, you will be asked to work in teams of 4-6 persons* to provide innovative and sustainable solutions aimed at reducing the environmental impact of the Fashion & Textile Industry.To do so, you will use the Young Innovators toolbox, and information provided via short presentations at the beginning of the competition by distinguished guests (entrepreneurs and experts in the field of study). Attention! Your solutions should be correlated to the circular model of economy, whose idea is to extend the lifecycle of products and save resources.

And yes; in case you wander, you are allowed to surf online in seek for more information to illustrate your ideas, so do bring your cell phones and/or laptops.

Each team will be given two (2) hours to come up with an idea and form its implementation plan. Then you will be asked to pitch that idea in front of a Juries Board who will evaluate all ideas and select two winners per educational level(Middle School & High School) – 4 winners in total!

WHAT DO I WIN?

Other than the monetary and other prizes you could win by participating in the competition, by being part of the XNUMXrd generation of Young Innovators within the framework of the programme in Cyprus, you will receive a Certificate of Participation as well! Additionally, you gain meaningful and valuable knowledge on Climate Change and its challenges by people who are facing/studying them, and you enhance your system thinking and creativity in problem solving.

HOW DO I REGISTER?

Registrations will be accepted until December 14, via the online form you will find here.*It is noted that those interested in participating in the competition, but haven’t formed a team yet, will be able to do so on the day of the competition.
