
Mandria (Paphos) and Kofinou are the next two Communities that secured funding from the Grant Scheme for Strengthening the Resilience and Adaptation of Communities to Climate ChangeBoth Communities submitted an application under the B' Category of Investments of the Plan, Investments to strengthen the Adaptation and Resilience of Communities to Climate Change.
Η Mandria Community, on the one hand, aiming to attract more visitors to its central square, will utilize the funding it will receive from the Plan to implement natural shading solutions and to install urban equipment such as wooden benches. The Community's plan also includes planting trees and climbing plants.


Η Kofinos Community, on the other hand, aims to create a park with trees and Cypriot aromatic plants from the occupied part of the island, thus contributing to the revival of the local natural environment.


The two Community Leaders, along with their scholars, attended today, Monday, May 12, at the premises of the Cyprus Energy Office, to sign the Public Financing Agreement and to answer key questions, before implementing their plans.
It is recalled that the Grant Scheme for Strengthening the Resilience and Adaptation of Communities to Climate Change is included in the National Recovery & Resilience Plan and is funded by the EU Recovery & Resilience Mechanism (NextGeneration EU) with a total budget of €2.900.000. The implementing body is the Cyprus Energy Office and the supporting body is the Cyprus Communities Union.
It is also recalled that the B' phase of the Plan remains in force. Interested Community Councils, interested Partnerships of Community Councils and interested Community Service Clusters of Cyprus can submit their application electronically, through the platform of the Plan. Existing recipients of funding are excluded from the call. The deadline for submitting applications is June 6, 2025.
