Experts from the Environment Agency of Austria offer support in the field of energy efficiency.

Nicosia, 25 January 2018 - Cyprus, like all Member States of the European Union, has committed to energy efficiency by 2020. To this end, the Ministry of Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism of Cyprus is stepping up its efforts. for the implementation of the Energy Efficiency Directive (Directive 2012/27 / EU) and the Energy Efficiency Directive for Buildings (Directive 2010/31 / EU). The Austrian Environmental Agency will support the Cypriot authorities in this project, with its know-how.

Main areas of cooperation

For the next 18 months, the experts of the Austrian Environmental Agency, in collaboration with Energy Service officials, will develop a methodology for quality control of energy audits in accordance with the requirements of National Legislation. They will also develop computer systems for the electronic management of all registers maintained by the Energy Service, and computer tools for calculating the annual energy savings achieved through the implementation of energy efficiency measures in Cyprus. At the same time, the Cyprus Energy Agency under the supervision of the Austrian Environmental Agency will carry out a series of actions to raise the awareness of institutions, companies and the public, in relation to the benefits of energy efficiency investments.
