"The tourism industry is the most important economic activity in Cyprus. The number of tourists visiting Cyprus is four times higher than the permanent population. The ever-increasing tourist activity exerts significant pressures on the environment and the infrastructure of the island. "The Cyprus Energy Agency will work to promote and adopt the principles of 'sustainable and eco-tourism' and 'blue growth' in the tourism product on offer, principles that can bring multiple benefits to both the economy and the environment."
