Two awards won the TILOS program of the Greek island of Tilos in the Sustainable Energy Awards of the European Union for 2017. The program won the Energy Efficiency Award and the highly prized first place in the Citizens' Prize awarded to the program with the most votes. The program aims to improve the periodic power supply through the use of renewable energy sources, a prototype battery system and intelligent network management. With these additions it is expected that 75% of the island's needs will be covered with future prospects for 100% energy autonomy.
