With the extension of the Covenant of Mayors initiative and the progress of the implementation of Sustainable Energy Action Plans across Europe, it is imperative to increase energy efficiency.
One of the main challenges faced by public bodies and local authorities in this effort is to achieve better results with limited resources.
The plan for setting up supporters for GPP is developed in such a way that public organizations and local authorities focus their attention on GPP and Life Cycle Costs when purchasing products or services.
The adoption of GPP criteria and requirements in each public contract is expected and framework contracts are expected to contribute significantly to the EU's goal of overtaking the 20% reduction in CO2 emissions to 2020.
To enhance this effort, the Energy Bureau is designated as GPP (Green Public Procurement Supporter) and in cooperation with the Environmental Department, provides the contracting authorities with:
- Technical support
- GPP training
- Standard GPP tender documents
- Organizing Annual GPP Awards
- Participation in the Advisory Committee on GPP
- MTF Manual (2016 version)
- Handbook on GPP (2018 version) _GR
