The 14 October 2016 took place at the "Crowne Plaza Athens Central" Hotel in Athens, a workshop on "Sustainable Energy Projects in the Public Sector and the Experience of Local Authorities from Design to Implementation". The Energy Office of Cypriot Citizens was invited to present at the conference the results of two energy audits which were carried out at the facilities of the Nicosia Municipal Swimming Pool and the Aglantzia Municipal Swimming Pool as part of the co-funded project of the Intelligent Energy for Europe Program "Nearly Zero-Energy Sports Facilities - Nearly Zero Power Consumption Sports Facilities.
The project "N0e Sport Facilities" aims at assessing the current energy situation of 18 sports facilities in the EU and in identifying and implementing innovative energy saving solutions to save more than 50% of the current consumed energy. As a result, n0e Sport Facilities promotes the creation of almost zero-energy sports facilities by designing and promoting a comprehensive sports facility renovation package that includes all available energy saving methods / measures and renewable energy technologies.
The workshop was attended by representatives of the national authorities and the local government of Greece, as well as market players active in the field of energy upgrading of buildings and facilities.
