The inclusion of Cyprus in the Climate-KIC, which is the main initiative of the European Union in combating the effects of climate change and promoting sustainable development, celebrated the Cyprus University of Technology, Chrysalis LEAP and the Energy Office of Cypriot Citizens who organized an official dinner "Cyprus - Node of Sustainable Innovation and Entrepreneurship "at 29 September at the Hilton Hotel in Nicosia.
The event was held under the aegis of the SA of the President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Anastasiades, and greetings were made by Mr. Konstantinos Petridis, State Secretary to the President, Mr. Kostas Kadis, Minister of Education and Culture and Mr. Andreas Anagiotou, Rector TEPAK . The main speaker of the event was Mrs Androula Vassiliou, former Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth Affairs of the European Union.
Climate-KIC is one of the 5 Knowledge and Innovation Communities of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), with well-known European universities, multinational companies, professional associations and local governments.
The aim of the Cypriot Consortium, consisting of the Cyprus University of Technology, Chrysalis LEAP and the Cyprus Office of Cyprus Citizens, is to promote green innovation in Cyprus and the wider region through targeted actions in vocational education, technological development of green products and services and accelerating green start-ups
Coordinator of the Cypriot consortium is Assistant Professor Alexandros Charalambides of the Department of Environmental Science and Technology of TEPAK.
