Experts from the Environment Agency of Austria offer support in the field of energy efficiency.
Nicosia, 25 January 2018 - Cyprus, like all EU member states, has committed to energy efficiency by 2020. To this end, the Cyprus Ministry of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism reinforces its efforts to implement the Energy Efficiency Directive (2012 / 27 / EU Directive) and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (2010 / 31 / EU Directive ). The Austrian Environmental Bureau will support the Cypriot authorities in this project, with its know-how.
Main areas of cooperation
For the next 18 months the experts from the Austrian Environmental Bureau in cooperation with Energy Service officers will develop a methodology for controlling the quality of energy audits in line with the requirements of the National Legislation. They will also develop computerized systems for the electronic management of all the registers maintained by the Energy Service and computational tools for calculating the annual energy savings achieved through the implementation of energy efficiency measures in Cyprus. At the same time, the Energy Office of Cypriots under the auspices of the Austrian Environmental Bureau will carry out a series of actions to enhance the awareness of operators, businesses and the public in relation to the benefits of energy efficiency investments.
The project is funded by the Structural Reform Support Service.
